Professorial Lecturer in Law
Mr. Alexandrov is a partner in the firm Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood. His practice focuses on international business transactions, trade and investment policy, and international dispute resolution. He has extensive professional and academic experience in public international law and international dispute settlement as well as international transactions. Previously, he was vice minister of foreign affairs of Bulgaria where he managed Bulgaria’s relations with the European Union, the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and NATO. He also had responsibility for all legal work of the Foreign Service as supervisor of the Legal Counsel’s office. Prior to that, he served as deputy chief of mission of the Embassy of Bulgaria in Washington, D.C., where he negotiated trade and investment agreements and worked closely with the World Bank and the IMF on technical assistance projects. A Bulgarian national, Mr. Alexandrov holds a Russian law degree in addition to his U.S. credentials. He provides analysis of draft legislation of Eastern European and Former Soviet states to the Central and Eastern European Law Initiative (CEELI) of the American Bar Association. Mr. Alexandrov is a frequent lecturer at the International Law Institute in Washington, D.C., and assists in program development and financing
